The line between word processing and desktop publishing is beginning to blur. The ability to quickly and easily manipulate text and graphics on screen and try out new ideas is readily available in most word processing software as well as less expensive, easy to use programs such as Microsoft Publisher. This CTAP 60 desktop publishing module is designed to build on skills learned in the word processing module and move you into the arena of basic desktop publishing. Online instruction will be for Microsoft Word, on both PC and Macintosh platforms.
Before starting this module you should have either completed the Word Processing module or have mastered the basic word processing skills covered in that course. You should also have a browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer on your computer and a connection to the Internet.
The portfolio requirements for this course includes the creation of a single desktop published, two column newsletter that contains graphics, custom headers and wrapped text.
Detailed portfolio requirements can be found in the Course Materials section.
