You can complete CTAP Online courses independently online, in a face-to-face setting with a site mentor, or any combination of the two. Each course requires the completion of a portfolio piece. You can challenge a course by completing the portfolio requirements and submitting your portfolio for approval to either your site mentor or CTAP Online. Once approved, you earn certificates of completion as well as college credit.
Each of the nine personal proficiency courses offers 6-to-10 hours of self-guided instruction in computer basics, various computer applications, Internet, e-mail and more. All of our personal proficiency courses are aligned to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing's (CTC) Technology Standard for a California K-12 Preliminary Teaching Credential. One college credit is available for the completion of every 15-hours of combined coursework. The proficiency courses in our series total 60-hours. If you complete the portfolio requirements for all nine courses in the series, you can earn a CTAP Online Personal Proficiency Certificate and a total of 4 college credits.
Our advanced courses offer self-guided instruction in designing standards-based lessons and classroom assessments, technology integration in the curriculum, information literacy, and more.
